Art and Fashion: From Analogue to Digital Spaces.
Talk with Kiara Gounder
The presentation focuses on the intersection of art and design as well as the role technology plays not just as a method of production, but a method of exploration. Artists and designers are becoming increasingly more versatile and interdisciplinary as lines between hand / machine art / design blur. Kiara uses a wide range of digital tools to produce fashion artefacts, where ideas are conceptualised, visualised and executed through the digital interface of the computer screen and fabricated using 3D prototyping technologies.
3D modelling and rendering software are used as a ‘digital canvas’ to transform 2D analogue sketches into 3D digital objects. Aspects of reverse engineering will also be presented as opportunities to create and innovate in art and design practices. This presentation is designed for artists and practitioners who are situated in art communities that operate with traditional methods and are interested in experimenting with digital tools to develop their practice.
